I started oil painting

The masterpiece of western art media: Oil Painting.

I admire many of the western painters, and most of them were oil painters. I’ve seen many great artworks. The thing they have in common is the richness and sort of the feel of rigidness the surface of the oil paint emits, not to mention the visible brush strokes.

I tend to draw in digital. I love the versatility of it: I can make a png file and I can easily change the color tone with a few clicks; I can also undo my mistakes just by pressing Z and Command. Also it has far greater contrast ratio than any physical painting/drawing medium.

In oil painting, on the other hand, there are so many limitations, especially this feel severe when you come from digital drawing. I hate how expensive it is to make one painting considering how little money most painters make. The price of paint tubes are nuts. I also have to buy a new canvas every time I start a new project. And when you paint, you can’t do the Undo like digital! Also you have to wait a few days fro the paint to dry(most oil painting techniques require a multi-layer-painting method).

With all of this said, I still think oil painting looks better than digital for the reasons which I previously mentioned.

If I are to describe oil painting with one word, that would be “rigid“

I made this painting of Japanese bread. Japanese bread has a unique variety.

They are currently being hung at a store. These kinds of bread are from the same bakery.

Listed below are the process of this painting. Just for your fun

So I’ve started painting in oil, which means you can get your own PHYSICAL painting to hang on your wall.

You can still choose between oil painting and digital, but I highly recommend oil paintings if you want a traditional decor.
