So, with the prime minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe declaring the state of emergency, we Japanese are taking the things more seriously. Though I see some bakeries and restaurants are still running, most of the shipping malls are closed. There is definitely less people walking outside.
It’s so refreshing to see this small population in Osaka. I personally like it because I don’t like being in a very crowded place(it’s kinda ironic that I chose to live in this city). Do you know a Japanese anime called “Neon Genesis Evangelion“? The fictional story is about giant robots fighting giant monsters after a massive cataclysm where the population of entire world have been decreased to half. Basically walking the streets of Osaka today reminds me of the plot of the anime; it’s surreal.
It’s a shame that just in right time, we are no longer able to go outside and appreciate the beautiful cherry blossoms that only bloom for a couple weeks around this time of the year. I’m hoping we can go outside next year.
